Lydiard Park carparking petition

Lydiard Park Swindon

After Tory-run Swindon Council introduced car parking charges at Lydiard Park, they have done nothing to tackle those Lydiard Park users who are avoiding the parking charges by parking in neighbouring streets near to the park. During peak times at Lydiard, this has led to some streets in Grange Park crammed full of cars because people want to avoid the parking charges. Your local Labour Team is calling on Tory-run Swindon Borough Council to tackle this problem on behalf of…

Update from your Liden, Eldene and Park South Councillors

Councillors Derique Montaut, Chris Watts, and Fay Howard

New Parish Councils New Parish councils are now being formed with Liden and Eldene joining Nythe Parish. Councillor Derique Montaut aims to join Nythe parish as he is concerned that Liden and Eldene residents will be under-represented on the parish during this year’s precept setting process. Thank you to those who have come forward interested in becoming parish councillors too. More parish councillors will still be needed. It is important for Eldene and Liden to have adequate representation as decisions…

Parking Issues in Welton Road

Delta Business Park

Local residents attended meetings of the Westlea Residents’ Association (WRA) and the West Swindon Locality in November to express concerns about the parking issues in Welton Road, which have been exacerbated by the arrival of Oxford Brookes University (OBU) at Delta 900 in September 2016.  At the peak of the problems, WRA reported that there were 174 cars and 3 commercial vehicles (including a large car transporter) parked on Welton Road.  There were also concerns expressed about the new drive-through…

Residents Parking Update

Residents Parking Sign

The council has reviewed the residents parking in Zones G and H, in our area. I delivered leaflets to all the affected streets and people responded to me saying they wanted the times extended. I’m pleased to say that these views have been taken on board and the recommendations are that both zones should be extended to 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday; there will also be some changes to the limited waiting spaces which will make more spaces available…
