A vote for Trish Philpot and a Labour Council is the best way to a safer Swindon. Copy

Mike White, Retired Police Inspector and former chair of Wiltshire Police Federation endorses Trish Philpot for Lydiard & Freshbrook.

Mike White says:

“As a former police officer I understand the challenges that Swindon faces regarding crime and anti-social behaviour.

Only a Labour Council will make the changes necessary to make Swindon safe.  This is why I fully endorse Trish Philpot as council candidate for Lydiard and Freshbrook.

Conservatives cuts have meant 187 less police officers in Wiltshire Police since 2010.  In the last four years Violent Crime in South Swindon has increased by 66% and Robbery has increased by 74%.  In 2018 there were 3980 reported incidents of anti-social behaviour in South Swindon.  These increases put huge pressure on your Community Policing Teams.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.  To tackle anti-social behaviour and reduce crime in Swindon we need a council and councillors who are willing to invest in our communities.  I support Labour policies to:

  • Recruit more enforcement officers and Police and Community Support Officers.
  • Lobby the Government to increase funding for the police.
  • Bring back Children’s Sure Start centres so that Swindon kids get a good start in life.

Electing Trish as the councillor for Lydiard and Freshbrook will help deliver a Labour council that will tackle Crime and anti-social behaviour.”
