Future Management of Lydiard Park In Doubt

I am disappointed to have to report that due to the Tory Council’s mismanagement, the Lydiard Conference Centre will now be closing.

Some weddings and other events at the conference centre will have to be cancelled, leaving a large loss of income for the Park & House and  damaging the reputation of Lydiard to host events.

Labour successfully stopped Lydiard from being transferred to the private sector following the election of Labour Councillor Matthew Courtliff.

Despite agreeing to the transfer of management of Lydiard Park & House to the charitable Lydiard Heritage Trust a year ago, Conservative-led Swindon  Council have also continued to stall the transfer of management of Lydiard and the Trust have said the Council have not been engaging with  them for months.

I spoke on BBC Radio Wiltshire on Monday morning stating that Council mismanagement was jeopardising the future management of Lydiard by a local Trust and raises the possibility of Lydiard being run by a private company, yet again. You can listen to my interview on BBC
Wiltshire via BBC iPlayer towards the beginning of Ben Prater’s show aired on Monday 22nd January.

That is why, if elected in the May Elections, I will make sure Lydiard stays under public control, accessible to all residents. I will not allow the  Conservatives’ mismanagement of Lydiard to jeopardise its remaining under public control.
