What your West Swindon Labour Team are saying:

Steph Exell (Labour candidate for Shaw) says: “The news of the existence of Conservative council documents and the tendering of leisure services has come as a great shock to Swindon residents. Many hundreds of people in our town have already signed the petition to keep Lydiard Park in Council care and management. Please join them and sign our online petition.”
Councillor Jim Robbins (Labour, Mannington and Western) says: “Swindon's population is growing and we need more public parks and recreational facilities, not less. The country parks in Swindon are part of our heritage and are owned by the people who regard them as the jewels of the community. Generations of my family have had unrestricted access to the parks; but I share residents fears that this will all come to an end under local Conservative control.”
Councillor Cindy Matthews (Labour, Lydiard and Freshbrook) says: “People on the doorsteps and in the streets have told me how frightened they are that Lydiard Park and the town’s other leisure facilities will suffer the same fate as the Arts Centre. There is much concern being expressed about the  haste with which  this is being done. If you want to keep Lydiard safe for future generations then my advice is sign our petition and have your say.”
Jamal Miah (Labour candidate for Lydiard and Freshbrook) says: “There is only one option left open to people in Swindon who want to keep our country parks in the care and management of the Council and that is to vote Labour on May 22nd.  Help us to show the out of touch local Conservatives that Swindon deserves a better future.”
