Thank You from PCC Candidate Clare Moody

I would like to thank everyone who supported me across Wiltshire during the Police and Crime Commissioner election campaign.  Together we raised the profile of important issues and I am proud to have stood up for the residents of Wiltshire and will continue to do so in any way I can.

The Home Secretary cannot run away from her responsibility for turnout in these elections. She chose to hold them in November rather than May and it was her decisions that have meant too little information was available, that the organisation of the elections was a shambles, and that ballots were shredded and reprinted.

While Labour didn’t support the policy of Police and Crime Commissioners in Parliament, and we believe reforms will be needed in future, this will be a role that comes with a responsibility to do the right thing by Wiltshire residents.

I hope that Angus Macpherson (Conservative) takes on board the issues raised during the campaign and will fight to protect the police service in our county from cuts imposed by the Conservative led government.
