Swindon Labour Group Leader Jim Grant Backs the Adver’s “Get Swindon Working” Campaign

I both support and welcome the Adver’s Get Swindon Working campaign. I think the campaign will be a great tool to show companies considering to come to Swindon that our town is ready to work for them.

Holding down a job and being able to provide for your family gives dignity to thousands of people in Swindon. Indeed it is what the town has been founded on back when the GWR first arrived in the area. And I think it will continue to be Swindon’s selling point for many decades to come.

The political parties sometimes disagree in what we think is the best way to increase  employment, however  we all agree that getting people in work has to be the priority. And that is why all parties supported the Council priority to have ‘the right jobs in the right places’.

I think the Adver’s campaign has been brilliant in showing the public that there is a determination across all the political parties to do this. I hope this campaign will continue to gather steam in coming weeks and months.
