Cindy Matthews, Labour Councillor for Lydiard & Freshbrook, has responded to the public consultationI on the draft local plan for Swindon by asking that the land at Hook Street that is currently subject to a planning application and the adjacent land that goes right up to Lydiard Park itself, be re-designated as green spaces in order to provide greater protection from development.

Cindy pointed out that the land adjacent to Lydiard Park itself and the adjoining land that is subject of the current planning furore are both coloured white on the draft document.   She has formally requested that they both be redesignated as green spaces.    In her response, Cindy points out that she is aware that they are outside the settlement boundary but believes that they would be given more protection if they were coloured green.

Public consultation will run until 6pm on Thursday 21st February 2013 and Cindy and South Swindon Labour would also like to hear your views (contact us here). Please make sure your voice is heard and submit your response via the council website before the 21st February.  The draft documents can be found on the Swindon Borough Council website.
