Stealth Tax and another layer of Bureaucracy

The Tories are looking at bringing in parish councils and whilst we do not oppose them in principal we believe it is to introduce tax rises by the back door at the cost of another layer of bureaucracy.

If this was agreed it may mean improved local services including pothole filling, street cleaning and local bus services. However this would come at an additional cost for council-taxpayers, potentially having to pay £120 more over the next three years to the Council in order for these services to improve.

Labour is concerned that the Conservatives wish to introduce new parish councils and a new parish tax in order to avoid making dramatic council-tax increases themselves, but the parish councils will cost taxpayers considerably more to run.
