South Locality Public Meeting 24 May 2012

On a very warm evening, this was a well attended meeting with a lot of discussion.

Here are some of the points raised:

  • Residents raised concerns over the proposed realignment of the Southern Relief Road
  • Highways to review the lack of footpaths and cycleways from Wroughton along Wharf Road to Mill Lane.
  • The comparative costs of building a tunnel and a bridge using current data was requested.
  • Land south of the M4 will be protected from development by the policies of the Core Strategy.
  • Council officers to consider whether the transport assessment used for the original planning application is still valid today.
  • Residents raised concerns over the urbanisation of Wharf Road and re-siting of the supermarket to the other side of the canal.
