Rural Crime: An Important Issue for Wiltshire

Wildlife and rural crime – whether through deliberate cruelty, illegal trapping, trafficking of wildlife and their parts, or through reckless hunting – is an important issues that affects Wiltshire as a whole.

Wildlife and rural crime – whether through deliberate cruelty, illegal trapping, trafficking of wildlife and their parts, or through reckless hunting – is an important issues that affects Wiltshire as a whole.

To tackle these issues I would like to see us working together as a community, with the police and the the public, to ensure that the laws covering criminal acts towards wildlife are enforced.

I believe that together we can build on schemes such as Farmwatch and use the increased availability of communication methods such as text and instant messaging, mobile phone pyramids and email via smartphones to spread news and information quickly within communities. These methods would also allow for the Police to be quickly contacted so that those involved in criminal acts can be brought to justice.
