Some residents have expressed concern about the negative impact on noise and traffic arising form this development and these issues were brought before the Council’s Planning Committee by former Councillor Mark Dempsey.

However, Councillors are reassured by the following modifications to the plans that were approved:

  • The site will close at 10.00pm with all lights turned off by 10.30 pm
  • The bus gate on Upham Road has been moved back 10 metres to prevent traffic turning into Upham Road and the camera will now be on 24/7 every day
  • The 112 extra parking places created by the scheme may relieve some of the existing issues experienced by residents of overspill parking from the school
  • Your Councillors were also successful in ensuring a Green Travel plan has had to be agreed as a planning condition
  • The reduced size of the Clubhouse means that it is unlikely to be suitable for large groups to hire the venue for social functions
  • £5000 of developer’s money will be held in abeyance to rectify any traffic issues that are found to arise from the scheme.
