I took part in the Pipers Area Residents Association (PaRa) Autumn Tidy and Planting Event on Sunday 5th October. Over 70 people got involved in the event helping to tidy up the flower beds and areas around Old Town. I helped out with the planting at the bed next to Mr Cod on Victoria Hill, the walled garden at Lydiard Park donated plants, the staff at Mr Cod helped us out by providing water for the plants and Baila Coffee and Vinyl provided us with coffee whilst we were working. It was great to see everyone getting involved and helping out to improve the area.

Other areas that got a tidy up included Newport Street, Co-op bus stop, Pipers Way roundabout, Berenger Close and the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery. Thanks have to go to the PaRa committee for organising the clean-up, all the Old Town businesses who supported the event, the18th Swindon Scouts Group who got involved, SBC Locality Team for support and all the volunteers who took part. The next clean up session will be in the spring, to find out more about PaRa And to see some photos from the day, take a look at their website.
