Park Library Saved

You Did it!

Thank you to all of you across Parks and beyond who joined the forum and Save Swindon Libraies campaign. The Council has confirmed that Parks library will remain funded by the council.  A huge victory to us all who care passionately for our library service and the communities in which we live.

The hours will be reduced to just 15 but at a time when many, including Liden are being closed, this is good news for Parks.

Councillor Chris Watts was part of the task group working with the lead member looking into library provision and costs was thanked, acknowledging their input in saving Parks library.

Coun Jim Robbins, the Labour spokesman on libraries, said:
'At a time when our pupils’ literacy rates are below the national average, it is irresponsible and short-sighted to be shutting so many libraries. The Labour group is committed to keeping our libraries open and fighting for their survival'

Councillor Fay Howard asks that we all use this provision and keep our libraries at the heart of our communities. When did you last visit your local library? Why not go today.
