Parishes: More Costs, Fewer Services

Residents’ Council-Tax bills were increased on average by £50 this year and Conservative Councillors are looking to impose a Parish Council on West Swindon which will mean your council-tax bills will increase by another £120 over a short period.

They will do this by transferring the running of services like grounds maintenance and street cleaning to this new Parish Council which will charge you a “Parish Precept”, which is another layer of council-tax.

This is a form of double taxation as Swindon Council will not offer you a rebate on your Council Tax for no longer delivering these services.

The Conservatives are committed to imposing parishes on residents.

A vote for Labour in the local elections will ensure a referendum on the Council’s Parishing stealth tax plans.
