Old Town & East Wichel News

Waitrose
It is brilliant to have Waitrose. I have heard many positive comments about the new store. It is great that they have already got involved with the local community.

Taylor Wimpey have announced that the vacant shop has been purchased and it is planned to operate an independent convenience store.

3 New Play Areas for Old Town

I have worked hard to ensure that Old Town Ward has excellent provision for children to play. I am delighted that by the end of the year, Old Town should have 3 new play areas:

• East Wichel play area is due to be completed in July.
• Hesketh play area scheduled to be completed by November.
• Angel Ridge play area to be completed in the summer

The Number 22 Bus

After a successful campaign, I am thrilled that the number 22 service is now running more frequently with an improved evening and weekend service for Okus and Angel Ridge residents. When I was elected as Councillor for Old Town in 2012, the future of the number 22 bus service was one of the issues that was raised with me and it is great that the uncertainty over the service’s future has been resolved.

I would like to thank Thamesdown Transport for showing faith in Old Town residents through delivering this new service on a fully commercial basis and I would urge as many Old Town residents as possible to use this bus service to ensure its longevity.

Old Town Library

I am pleased that the Old Town library opening hours have been maintained until June, as I know how important and valued it is by local residents. We will need to make sure this is not just a temporary reprieve.

If re-elected, I'll continue to engage with the community to get the best possible library service for Old Town.
