Nadine Watts: Petition to Safeguard the Future of Croft Playing Fields

We call upon Swindon Borough Council to take the car park, Marlborough Lane and playing fields out of the lease, remove the 3 year change of use clause and cap the lease to 25 years for a third party operator of the leisure centre.

There is a consultation going on until 15 April, regarding the potential disposal of Croft playing fields on up to a 99 year lease to a third party operator. Concerns have been raised regarding the 3 year change of use clause, specifically as to what this would mean to the playing fields.

We call upon Swindon Borough Council to take the car park, Marlborough Lane and playing fields out of the lease, remove the 3 year change of use clause and cap the lease to 25 years for a third party operator of the leisure centre.

Only these measures will protect the fields and ensure they are kept in the public ownership for future generations.

The Labour Party is providing the mechanism to facilitate a petition to take the Croft playing fields, car park and lane out of the lease to a third party operator. Signing the petition does not in any way require or assume support for the Labour Party or Labour Party policies in general and will not be used in any way other than in relation to compiling the petition. Contact details will be deleted when this campaign is concluded.
