Mike Heal: Working Hard For Local People In Shaw

Mike has stood as your Labour candidate in Shaw before and offers a choice to move on from the record of the Conservative candidate, who had to resign from the post of mayor.

Mike has stood as your Labour candidate in Shaw before and offers a choice to move on from the record of the Conservative candidate, who had to resign from the post of mayor.

Mike says “I will respect and represent all Shaw residents and know from personal experience the different challenges we all face in our lives.”

In wards like Old Town and Lydiard and Freshbrook residents have found replacing Conservative councillors, to form a team of councillors from more than one party, has reinvigorated their representation.

Children’s Centres

Seven Swindon Children’s Centres including Salt Way closed on 31 March. Mike supports Children’s Centres in West Swindon and Labour's plans which will double the number of places so our children receive the best start.

Thamesdown Drive Extension Road

Mike is a strong supporter of the link road actually being built rather than talked about. Only Labour is committed to funding the necessary work before Mead Way, West Swindon and the wider town become completely gridlocked.

Link Centre

Residents are concerned about possible changes to the library and the lack of accountability for any operational problems now that the Centre is no longer controlled by the council. The Conservative council are planning to increase debt by £100 million over the next 2 years, we are paying £ 9 million to service this burden and still there are new charges like green waste. We are paying more for less.

Please support Mike on Thursday May 7th for a hard working effective voice for Shaw.
