At a full council meeting on Thursday 10th November, the recommendations of the "Community Governance Review" were voted through by the Conservative majority. Labour Councillors all voted against the plan which has been branded undemocratic, divisive and expensive in three rounds of public consultation.
In the new parish of Central South Swindon, an appointed shadow parish council must now set a "Parish Precept" to be added to your Council Tax bill next year. Expect a steep rise in Council Tax to pay for the new bureaucracy as well as any essential services that the Borough Council decides, now or in the future, that it is no longer going to provide.
