Julian Price: Supporting a Council Tax freeze for Swindon residents

I am pleased to report that the Council will freeze Council-Taxes for another year. This will be a help for many families and pensioners who are struggling with their costs of living and I was delighted to be able to support this.

The Council’s budget was debated in February at a Full Council Meeting. Because of Central Government cuts to funding for local councils, increasing debt charges as a result of recent Council borrowing and increasing demands on the Council’s social services, the Council has had to find savings in 2014/15 of more than £15m.

I am pleased to report however that the Council will freeze Council-Taxes for another year. This will be a help for many families and pensioners who are struggling with their costs of living and I was delighted to be able to support this.
