Introducing Matthew Courtliff, your Labour Candidate in Lydiard and Freshbrook

I’m a passionate advocate of Swindon and most definitely Lydiard Park; my wife and I have spent many days there, for special events, to peruse the everlasting wonders of the house and to simply enjoy relaxing walks around its beautiful landscape. I unequivocally believe its future is most secure under the full control of Swindon’s residents and I will put all my efforts into ensuring it stays that way.

Since I moved to Swindon for work two and a half years ago, I have grown extremely fond of our town as I’ve discovered our wonderful heritage, our thriving independent businesses and our ever-growing food culture.

However, I’ve also been frustrated by a disjointed transport infrastructure which cuts up Swindon, overdue projects such as the Bruce Street Bridges which exacerbate the growing congestion of traffic and a disturbing, backwards vision from the current outdated council which prevents our town from realising its potential.

I read an article recently which named Swindon the ugliest town in the UK, whilst Tatler warned its readers to steer clear of our ‘hideous’ town. With green space aplenty and the wonderful Lydiard Park and House belonging to the people of Swindon, it saddened and offended me that such an uneducated and throwaway view has formed of our borough.
