I have lived in Shaw ward for nearly 30 years and I’ve always counted myself fortunate to live in this beautiful, vibrant and dynamic area of Swindon. I’m doubly fortunate to be able to work in Shaw, running my small software development business from my home. Recently I’ve been shocked at the decisions of the current council administration, as exemplified by the Bruce Street Bridges “improvements” and the situation at the Link Centre. Housing continues to encroach on our local landmarks. This year's budget proposals see our last Children's Centres and council nurseries closing, and the current council leadership have lost the determination and capacity to propose any other solution than offloading services. We can and must do better for Shaw and Swindon.
