The highway improvement scheme on Mill Lane and Foxham Way to facilitate the Waitrose store is well under way.  At the beginning of the project, the Council applied for a road closure of both Mill Lane and Foxham Way which was granted and have to date only implemented the Mill Lane closure.  The Council have tried to keep Foxham Way open for as long as possible, but unfortunately the time has now come to close it.  The tarmac will be laid during this road closure.

It will be closed from Monday 2 December 2013 until the end of the project which should be the middle of January 2014.  While the site is shut down over Christmas, Foxham Way will re-open and it will operate under temporary traffic management lights with emergency call out numbers displayed on site should there be any problems.  The contractor will open up the road as the last thing they do on Friday 20 December 2013 and the first thing they will do when they return on 2 January 2014 is shut it.

Cllr Nadine Watts (Old Town), said, "I am pleased that Foxham Way has been kept open for so long. Hopefully, this road closure will not inconvenience local residents too much.  It will be good to have Waitrose open for Easter 2014."
