Great Western Hospital workers Under Threat of regional pay in the NHS

GWH is one of the 20 trusts across the south west who have joined together as the South West Consortium which is looking at making changes to the pay, terms and conditions of health workers in the region.

GWH is one of the 20 trusts across the south west who have joined together as the South West Consortium which is looking at making changes to the pay, terms and conditions of health workers in the region.

These changes may include cutting pay and holiday entitlement, reducing sick pay, cutting the working week, equivalent to 250 jobs, and a 10% reduction in unsocial hours pay. They may also consider dismissing all employees and re-engaging them on different terms if pay cuts cannot be negotiated.

This is an attack on hard working NHS employees, a clear attempt to break the nationally agreed Agenda for Change pay framework and must be opposed. It is yet another move to take the National element out of the National Health Service, the thin edge of the wedge, services will vary widely regionally too, if we do not defend the NHS now and fight the privatisation of the service, which the Health and Social Care Act does in all but name.

Unions will be lobbying the Board of the GWH Trust this Thursday 27th Sept at 2.00pm
