Fay Howard selected as Labour Candidate for Parks in May 2011

I am delighted to have been selected again by the Labour Party to stand for Parks Ward in the May 2011 local elections. I have been a Councillor for Parks during the past 8 years, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  I believe in working for residents and am always keen to hear ways in which our community can be improved.

I am a governor at Goddard Park School, Treasurer for the Friends of Richard Jefferies Adventure Play area, and attend the Community Forum and the Swindon Parks and Walcot Community Group.  I am a nurse at GWH, married to Ian who is a teacher, and have have 3 teenage children.  I have a special interest in facilities for children, and in their continuing education and welfare.  I am Shadow Lead for the Labour Group on Children’s Services.

Examples of issues I have helped with recently  include:

  • renewal of the road surface on Dulverton Avenue road service be renewed
  • repair of walls throughout the ward
  • the Council reviewing its use of bottled water
  • overhanging and dangerous trees being cut back
  • parking provision at Studland Close

My 3 priorities for 2011 are

  • more activities for Young people and counteracting anti-social behaviour
  • priority on potholes not a canal
  • a clean and safe Swindon

Please get in touch  with your ideas and ways in which Parks and Swindon should be changed.

    Fay Howard, Cllr Parks Ward
