Your Councillors are supporting the Eldene Residents Association (ERA) in campaigning for the Post Office to reconsider its position and to find a way forward to ensure a Post office service.
There was an interested party wanting to run a newsagents containing a post office similar to the previous operation. The Post Office are now saying they will only offer a “Post Office Local” service in this location. This is a small counter operation offering a limited range of services. The interested party does not think it is viable for their business to only have the “post office local” and could only make the business work with the larger post office outlet.
We are disappointed that The Post Office do not recognise that being so close to Morrisons with greater footfall and ample parking would mean a larger post office unit is viable and desperately needed in the area. Meanwhile the unit is vacant and cannot stay unoccupied indefinitely.
