Eastcott Local News Update

Updates from your Labour team Paul Dixon and Manetta Rodrigues in Eastcott.

Old Town Tower

Most of you will have no doubt heard about the plans a developer put forward for a tower block on the site of the Swindon Advertiser Offices. Thankfully this particular plan is not going ahead. We're opposed to this type of development in our area and will challenge inappropriate development. We must all be on alert for updated proposals and defend the special character of Old Town.

Stagecoach Depot

The council is still in discussion with the developer regarding the plans for the site. Paul has asked that the proposal goes to the planning committee, so that local people can attend the meeting and make their views known. We will keep you informed when we know more.

Drove Road Roadworks

Work has started on improvements to Drove Road with a new light controlled crossing and improvements to the junction near the Merlin Pub. We expect the work to be completed by the end of April.

Curtis Street Speeding

Residents have reported to us that cars are still speeding along Curtis Street. More steps need to be taken to protect residents and their properties.

Sunnyside/Bowood Road Improvements

Paul has been working with others from the council to get improvements to the parking and road markings. Plans have been drawn up and the next stage will be to consult residents on the detailed proposals.

Hillside Parking Problems

Residents have reported parking problems in Hillside. We are working with the council to find a solution for you.
