Next Labour’s amended budget would use some of the recently announced £1.6m of “transitional funding” to maintain Lydiard House and Park while a solution is found that keeps them in the public sector where they belong.

SBC offered Lydiard Park to the market last October. How long would the lease be? What changes could the leaseholder make? The Council isn’t saying.

Public outrage forced the Council to delay the disposal process while a charitable trust put together a bid. No final decision will be made until after the local elections.

We believe that Lydiard Park belongs to the people of Swindon and should stay in the public domain.

The Council is now consulting on the future of Coate Water.
