The Commonweal School are hold their Commonweal 5 running event this year on Sunday 12th May:

Last year over 100 runners took part in this event and we raised £1,000 towards the school’s new minibus. With just over a week to go before this year’s race on Sunday 12th May, we’d like to exceed this total by attracting more runners but we desperately need your help to spread the word on Facebook, by liking and sharing our Commonweal 5 Facebook page and by registering to enter online.

The Commonweal 5 is a five-mile event for jog-walkers and seasoned runners and takes a scenic route along the Old Town railway path and around the lakes and canal at Wichelstowe.  You can enter online at . Entries will also be accepted on the day. If you are a recreational runner, or jog-walker then please support this community fund-raising event for the school. It is suitable for anyone over the age of 15 (some sections of the route are not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs) and with this event, it’s not the winning but taking part that counts! It starts and finishes on the school playing fields so come along and watch the PTA will be running a café so you can grab some refreshments before cheering the fastest runners across the finish line in just under 30 minutes.

Starting at 10.30am, it’s a great way to get active on a Sunday morning and enjoy this picturesque part of Swindon. Go online and enter now! Entry for UKA affiliated runners is £8 and £10 for unaffiliated runners. And don’t forget to like and share the Commonweal 5 page on Facebook!
