Cllr Nadine Watts: Update on Old Town Traffic Congestion and Closure of Foxham Way

Cllr Nadine Watts spoke to a highways officer earlier this week and the advance notification of the temporary re-opening of Foxham Way over Christmas should now be in place.

Several residents have contacted me regarding the increase in traffic through Old Town. I asked the highways department whether this increase was being monitored. The Council said that there is no formal monitoring taking place of the level of increased traffic on roads such as Kingshill Road, Bath Road or Croft Road. There is always an impact when a road is closed and a diversion in place. Also, local people who know the road network will take their own diversions. The Council are aware of the delays this closure is causing.  This wasn't helped by the fact that there was no advance notification of Foxham Way closing and I am pleased that the Council have apologised for this.

It is still planned to re-open Foxham Way in mid January.  As soon as I know the exact date, I'll let you know.
