Thamesdown Transport have told Councillors that the number 22 bus service will have a half-hourly evening service introduced from January 5th and the last bus from Fleming Way to Okus will be at 2319.This service will be subsidised by Swindon Borough Council after the Council agreed to have as a priority for financial support evening and Sunday services.

After Swindon Borough Council’s Conservative administration agreed to cut its bus subsidy budget by nearly half – £200K- concerns had been raised about the future of the 22 bus service, however in September, it was announced that the 22 bus service would continue as a fully commercial service.

Old Town Councillor, Nadine Watts, said:  “The new evening service for 22 bus users is absolutely fantastic news and will be a huge benefit to the Okus and Angel Ride community in 2014 and beyond.

Earlier this year there were people including myself, who were really concerned about the future of this bus service at all, let alone having the service dramatically improved, so to now have a bus service that run half-hourly from early in the morning to late at night is absolutely fantastic news.

I would like to thank in particular Thamesdown Transport for improving this service and also to those Councillors and Council Officers who helped ensure this service has improved with an evening service. I’m also pleased to have played my part in this bus service improvement.”
