Cllr Nadine Watts: Croft Playing Fields Update

I felt it was important to call a public meeting on 2 April to raise people's awareness of the consultation into the proposal to lease out Croft playing fields for up to 99 years to a third party operator with a 3 year change of use clause and its implications. Over 100 people attended the meeting.

Councillor Nadine Watts said, "I felt it was important to call a public meeting on 2 April to raise people's awareness of the consultation into the proposal to lease out Croft playing fields for up to 99 years to a third party operator with a 3 year change of use clause and its implications. Over 100 people attended the meeting.

Since then, we have been busy campaigning to get the playing fields and car park out of the lease (following the consultation, the lane has now been removed from the lease). The playing fields consultation received over 400 responses. Everyone I have spoken to feels very passionate about this and wants to see the Croft playing fields protected for future generations. We have nearly 1500 signatures on the petition to protect Croft playing fields.

Please sign the petition calling for the Croft playing fields and car park to be taken out of the lease at https://www.southswindonlabour.co.uk/croftfields

The results of the playing field consultation and the wider consultation into leasing out leisure facilities to a third party operator on a 99 year lease across Swindon are due to be presented at the Council's Cabinet meeting on 25 June."
