Following the re-organisation required by the Government’s 2012 NHS Act, GP surgery provision is now managed by NHS England. This body is responsible for making sure everyone in England has access to a doctor, and reports to the Secretary of State for Health.

The main point is that prior to this, surgery closures were dealt with locally by Swindon Primary Care Trust. We now have no local body dealing with GP provision in Swindon.
