Cllr Cindy Matthews Objects to Another Hook Street Development Application

Cindy is implacably opposed to the planning application by Pegasus to build on the land north of Hook Street. Following the public consultation in the Summer the developers have now submitted an application for outline planning approval for 73 homes to be built at the area adjacent to Grange Park.

Cindy is implacably opposed to the planning application by Pegasus to build on the land north of Hook Street. Following the public consultation in the Summer the developers have now submitted an application for outline planning approval for 73 homes to be built at the area adjacent to Grange Park.

The developers have taken account of the previous Planning Inspector’s report and appear to be trying to get this application approved before the local plan is confirmed.

Cindy says “Whilst all the local councillors are expressing objections to this application the developers are taking advantage of the government’s new planning framework, with its presumption in favour of development close to urban areas, and the local Council’s slowness at getting its local plan confirmed. I am concerned about this proposal both because of the loss of the green space, but also because of concern over traffic accessing Hook Street and for increased risk of flooding.

Residents have until the 5th December to express their objections in writing to:
Planning Dept, SBC, Wat Tyler House, Beckhampton Street, Swindon SN1 2JH

I would urge you to do so. I am committed to trying to preserve West Swindon’s remaining green spaces and will do everything I can to oppose this application.
