Candidate Spotlight: Jim Robbins, your Councillor and Candidate in Mannington and Western ward

I moved to Swindon to live with my wife, who was brought up in West Swindon. We have a young baby daughter, and also act as Foster Carers for Swindon Borough Council.

I moved to Swindon to live with my wife, who was brought up in West Swindon. We have a young baby daughter, and also act as Foster Carers for Swindon Borough Council. I work in the education sector and take a keen interest in school provision across the ward. I'm a governor of a local school. I've been very proud to be a Mannington & Western Councillor since 2012, and am keen to serve the area again.

Throughout Westlea and Toothill, I've been working hard to ensure that residents can be proud of where they live. Any reports of graffiti, dog mess, potholes or fly-tipping are reported into the appropriate teams as quickly as possible and action taken to clean and fix the areas. I'm grateful to all of the residents who have reported issues either to me and my fellow Councillors and the Locality team or directly to the Council.

We have been proactive in obtaining as much funding as possible from the Locality team to ensure that we can respond to the demands of residents when focusing on the issues they raise. At the last Locality meeting, money was allocated to resurface Westlea Drive and we will continue to ensure that residents issues are dealt with as soon as possible.
