A Labour Council would take steps to improve neighbourhoods

In one of the council leaders recent newspaper columns the Conservative leader has tried to talk up his administrations record on tipping and litter. The reality is the administration’s record is appalling finding few culprits and prosecuting only a few.

In one of the council leaders recent newspaper columns the Conservative leader has tried to talk up his administrations record on tipping and litter. The reality is the administration’s record is appalling finding few culprits and prosecuting only a few. Residents know how bad things have got and we know because we act and report the offences.  The reality is Streetsmart is not a word to describe the failed policy of thinking good local residents will clear up behind dirty offenders. Some time back we tried to get the council to adopt new environmental powers but these were not taken up.

To make a significant difference you need a different approach using all the powers at a council’s disposal. A Labour council would adopt the powers that are needed and work to improve neighbourhoods.
