A Better Future for Swindon – Make Your Voice Heard

Swindon has a heritage and cultural life to be proud of, but we have not made the most of our railway history and green spaces. Labour has worked hard on plans for economic recovery, the town centre, and a long term plan for Swindon's growth.

Your votes in May reduced the Conservative majority to just one and has opened up the opportunity for us to pursue our ideas more strongly, gaining cross party agreement to a common vision for Swindon whoever runs the council.

This consultation ended on the 21st February 2013

Swindon has a heritage and cultural life to be proud of, but we have not made the most of our railway history and green spaces. Labour has worked hard on plans for economic recovery, the town centre, and a long term plan for Swindon's growth. Your votes in May reduced the Conservative majority to just one and has opened up the opportunity for us to pursue our ideas more strongly, gaining cross party agreement to a common vision for Swindon whoever runs the council.

We will continue to hold the Administration to account on Wi-Fi, use of developers' funds, and the provision of core services, like green waste, when they fail. Our councillors across the town are representing you on anti-social behaviour concerns, development applications without adequate provision of services and transport, and many other local issues.

There are major consultations underway or about to start on the long term local plan for housing and commercial developments, parishes, and how we manage our finances to protect the most vulnerable. Reviews will report in the New Year on the wi-fi fiasco and the Croft school process.

Public consultation will run from Thursday 20th December 2012 until 6pm on Thursday 21st February 2013 and we at South Swindon Labour would also like to hear your views (contact us here). Please make sure your voice is heard.  The draft documents can be found on the Swindon Borough Council website.

From 20th December onwards, copies of all the documents will be available for public inspection at Swindon Borough Council’s One Stop Shop reception desk in Wat Tyler House, Beckhampton Street.
