Hook Street Planning Decision – Tory Government’s New Planning Laws Putting Our Green Spaces At Risk

The Inspector’s decision on the controversial Hook Street development has given the developers the green light despite the strong opposition from local residents and Cindy Matthews, your local Labour councillor, who was the only ward councillor to attend the planning hearing.

The Inspector’s decision on the controversial Hook Street development has given the developers the green light despite the strong opposition from local residents and Cindy Matthews, your local Labour councillor, who was the only ward councillor to attend the planning hearing.

The Inspector’s main reason was the council’s lack of a 5 year housing land supply.

The government’s new planning framework, voted for by South Swindon’s Conservative MP, gives the green light to developments like Hook Street because Conservative-run Swindon Borough Council has delayed finalising its local plan. All our green spaces are now vulnerable to developers – it’s a double whammy from the Conservatives for Lydiard and Freshbrook.
