£40 Million backlog of potholes in Swindon, like those in the road you use

People I have spoken to appear to be angry about this and are surprised that Conservative councillors are complaining that they are in a “Catch 22” situation, instead of doing something about them.

People I have spoken to appear to be angry about this and are surprised that Conservative councillors are complaining that they are in a “Catch 22” situation, instead of doing something about them. What people tell me is they are surprised about this, as they thought that the Conservatives were running the council! It’s true, the Conservatives do run the council. So why don’t they put their money where their mouth is and put more money in the budget to fill up potholes?

"I pledge I will campaign to increase the budget for repairs to potholes and pavements." Steve Wakefield

In the Swindon Advertiser on the 8th January, Conservatives “carped” on about needing £400,000 to fix potholes in your streets. If you recall this is the same amount that was spent on a failed wi-fi project. Surely, if they can find £400K to waste on this kind of project then it should be easy to find £400K for an essential service? After all, they regularly remind us that they are the ones running the show!

Unlike the Conservatives, if I am elected you won’t find me skimping on the budget or complaining “it’s too difficult”. I pledge I will campaign to increase the budget for repairs to potholes and pavements.
