At January’s Full Council Meeting, Nadine tabled a motion calling on the Council to come to an arrangement with the Hermitage Surgery over parking provision Following the recent merger with Westrop Surgery, the Hermitage Surgery is expecting to register 2,000 more patients in 2018 and now employs several more clinicians, including asthma and diabetic nurses. Unfortunately, the staff car park is not big enough to accommodate all the new clinicians, and the surgery cannot afford to pay for season tickets…

Statutory homelessness has increased by 78% in Swindon over the last five years, as Tory austerity begins to bite in Swindon. On top of this, the number of homeless households with children has increased by a staggering 162%. The recent increase has been blamed on a perfect storm of delays in the payment of Universal Credit which is leading to people falling into rent arrears, together with a housing market that is becoming unaffordable for many people on low incomes….
Swindon’s Labour Councillors are calling on Swindon Council to enforce irresponsible drivers parking on pavements. It is illegal for motorists to park their vehicles on the pavement. However Swindon Council’s current policy is to not enforce the law. This is a particular problem for residents with sight problems, mobility scooters or buggies, who need the full width of the pavement and it would not be safe for them to walk out on to the road. After hours of clearing up fly tipping and litter from the back alleys, Cllr Dixon ended up taking over 20 bags of rubbish, 3 sofas, a television, an ironing board, a book case and Christmas tree to the waste and recycling centre. Cllr Dixon had hired a van at his own expense to remove…

At the peak of the problems, WRA reported that there were 174 cars and 3 commercial vehicles (including a large car transporter) parked on Welton Road. There were also concerns expressed about the new drive-through…

As the weeks ticked by my excitement grew (and in fairness again, the thought of 5 nights away in a hotel without a toddler waking me up every night was…
