Labour: Protecting Lydiard Park for Swindon’s Future Generations

Labour candidates Steph Exell (Labour Candidate, Shaw) and Jamal Miah (Labour Candidate, Lydiard & Freshbrook) will be joined today by fellow West Swindon Labour Councillors to launch a petition to ensure that the future ownership and responsibility of Lydiard Park & House remains with the Council.

This petition follows the Conservatives’ confusion about the Council’s plans for the future use of Lydiard House and Park. On the Swindon Council website the Leisure & Culture Change Programme document, published in April 2013, identifies the Cabinet’s decision to explore and identify further commercial and/or charitable opportunities for many of Swindon’s cultural assets including Lydiard House & Park. Swindon Council have also proposed to lease Swindon's leisure facilities to a private leisure company for 99 years.

Sign our petition to safeguard the future of Lydiard Park
